The Holten Canadian War Cemetery is a place for reflection. Here the victims of WWII are commemorated. Each of the1394 headstones has its own impressive story. The adjacent Information Centre helps visitors to understand the lay-out of the cemetery and to obtain more information of the lives of the fallen soldiers. Personal stories, anecdotes and photographs, often donated by relatives of the war victims, will keep the thought and awareness of those who fell alive. The audio-visual theatre, where visitors can watch a presentation on the liberation of the eastern part of the Netherlands by the Canadians, plays an important part in the Information Centre. It also tells the story why and how the cemetery was laid out at this specific site. The Information Centre has free entrance for all visitors and provides a source of information ’for all generations’.
