Canadian teachers on a study tour to Holten
On Tuesday, 16 June 2019, the Information Centre Canadian Cemetery (ICCC) in Holten hosted a party of Canadian history teachers who were on a study tour in Europe with the Cregg Centre. The theme of their programma was twofold: the educational supply of the information centre, and history education in the Netherlands.
After their welcome in the ICCC, the Canadian teachers were given the opportunity to watch the main film, and they got to see what the centre has to offer in the field of education. Then followed a fertile discussion about the curriculum of history classes, about the theory of education, and about extra student projects with Second War related themes, such as freedom and commemoration.
The final part of the program was a visit to the Canadian cemetery. During this visit to the field of honour two Canadian guests presented their research results into the life stories of some of the fallen servicemen and the circumstances in which they died.
The information centre is looking forward to receiving their results. We will be happy to add these to our present data base.
