From plan to realization: a photo impression of the renewed ICB
The renovation of our information center has finally been completed. We hope these photos and lines will give you a good first impression of the result. The first photo shows the side-view of the renovation, with the terrace and the newly planted green. This is also where the new entrance for the tour groups is.
Multifunctional room
This is the new multifunctional room with the new tables and chairs in the front. Next to the photowall you can see two doors leading to the space where the tables and chairs are stored. During presentations the large picture with the general view of the cemetery will be covered with a screen. The white cubes in this photo were to be used for the temporary exposition in April and May, which we had to cancel due to the corona pandemic.
The coffee hatch
In this photo you can see the connecting door between the multifunctional room and the kitchen. The hatch can be open and shut. There is ample space for us to put the coffee and tea cups for larger groups of visitors.
The new kitchen, vestibule and coat-hooks
The kitchen is located right opposite the new entrance. The coat hooks can be found to the left and the right in the hall.
In the photo below you see the new access to the existing part of the building, with the entrance to the visitors room at the end, and the entry to the reception on the left. The meeting room and the office are halfway this corridor, and the bathrooms are on the right.
Reception desk
Immediately upon entering, our visitors can see the hosts and hostesses.
The niches wall
A wall with niches has been created in the existing part. In the niches visitors can watch video material on their own. The other visitors will not be disturbed by the sound of the films in the niches.
The new experience room
The entry to the new experience room is at the end of the wall with niches. By means of a hologram the stories of ten soldiers can be seen and heard.
